Blue Wahoos Get Plucky, 3-2 Win Over Naturals
|
Pensacola Blue Wahoos starter Jack Benally pitched his team past the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 3-2. Carlos Olavarria came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Isaac Miles recorded the save for Pensacola, his 1st of the season.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Maxwell Banas came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Northwest Arkansas pitcher Levi Gonzales, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pensacola on top, 3-2.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Banas told the Pensacola Citizen.
Pensacola now sits at 18-18, while Northwest Arkansas falls to 8-28.
