Arkansas Nets 1-0 Win Versus Missions
|
The San Antonio Missions went down to defeat to Ward Heikkila and his Arkansas teammates. The final score was 1-0, Travelers, in 10 innings. The Travelers are now 18-14, while the Missions fall to 12-20.
The decisive blow was delivered by Gilbert Noland in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Bobby Schultz to win the game for Arkansas. The home crowd went nuts.
Noland said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
