|
David Cordero was superb against St. Petersburg. The left-hander had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Blue Wahoos victory. The score was 1-0. Pensacola pitcher Karter Atkinson got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joshua Scott got the loss. Pensacola's record now stands at 16-16, placing them 5th in the Southern League Southeast Division.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Hendrix Cook came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing St. Petersburg pitcher Joshua Scott, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pensacola on top, 1-0.
"It was a hard game, a hard night," said St. Petersburg skipper Flip Brooks.
