Flying Squirrels Spill RoughRiders, 6-2
|
St. Petersburg pitcher Trent Stivers had a large part in his team beating the Frisco RoughRiders, 6-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Stivers got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The setback makes the RoughRiders 8-17.
Coy Murphy had a big 2-run double for the Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the first inning. With St. Petersburg leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Marc Gill and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 4-0.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Stivers.
