Jumbo Shrimp Turn Away RoughRiders, 3-1
|
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp went home winners at Dr. Pepper Ballpark, thanks in large part to starter Kelly Acitelli. Acitelli stifled the Frisco RoughRiders, enabling Jacksonville to grab the 3-1 win. Acitelli, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up no walks. Tyrek Holmes was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
The Jumbo Shrimp got a big boost from shortstop Barry Gonzalez who had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning off RoughRiders hurler Zach Sergeant. It was his 3rd double of the season and put Jacksonville on top, 3-1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Acitelli, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Jacksonville is now 21-7, 4 games up in the Southern League Southeast Division.
