Smokies Down Flying Squirrels, 8-0
Tennessee took on St. Petersburg in front of a lively crowd.

Tennessee pitcher Robert Evans had a large part in his team subduing the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels, 8-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. With the loss, St. Petersburg falls to 14-10.

Antwon Ferrer had a big grand slam home run for the Smokies in the bottom of the second inning. With Tennessee leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Grayson Bell and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Smokies on top, 5-0.

Said St. Petersburg manager Mike Reff: "They did a lot of things right. We did a lot of things wrong."
