Thomas, RockHounds Too Much for Braves
|
The Midland RockHounds powered past the Mississippi Braves, 9-1, at Security Bank Ballpark. Gavin Thomas provided some of the pop. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6. Lyle Lindsay, the winner, is now 2-2. He struck out 2 and walked 0 over 6 innings, while allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Herschel Peterson was credited with the save for Midland, his 1st of the season.
Thomas contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Midland in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Thomas took a fastball from Cameron Haggard and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the RockHounds to leap in front, 4-1.
"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Sandy Estrada.
Midland has a record of 8-13.
