Engineers Triumphant, 1-0, at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Shreveport Engineers and the San Antonio Missions, 26-year old right-handed pitcher Simon Santiago was the difference-maker. The Shreveport right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Santiago picked up the win for Shreveport, going 7.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Troy Prusinowski sewed up the save, his 5th.
Shreveport used a timely hit from Shawntae Kelly to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Engineers ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Santiago.
The Missions fall to 6-9 and continue their lethargic start to the 2058 season.
