The Shreveport Engineers picked up a win at Security Bank Ballpark, knocking off the Midland RockHounds, 8-4. Starting pitcher David Kirkpatrick played a key role in the triumph. Kirkpatrick, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Peyton Monroe was credited with the save for Shreveport, his 1st of the season.

Sesc Suastegui, who is tied for 4th in the SL in triples with 1, helped out the Shreveport cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Kirkpatrick. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."

The Engineers, now 12-3, have hit the ground running this season.
