Engineers Deal Drillers 3-2 Defeat
|
Shreveport beat Tulsa on the strength of starter Dean Clapp's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. In 7 innings, Clapp surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Shreveport goes to 12-1 with the win.
Shreveport used the clutch hitting of José María Maynes to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Engineers the lead, 2-1. For the game, Maynes had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Tough loss," said Tulsa manager Makato Tanaka. "But we'll learn from it."
