Smokies Win Pitchers' Duel, 2-1, Versus Blue Wahoos
|
The Tennessee Smokies claimed a close win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, due in large part to Connor Newsome. The Tennessee right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-1 win. The Smokies keep rolling, raising their record to 8-4.
The Smokies got a big at-bat from first baseman Aarón González. For the game, González was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Tennessee a 2-1 lead.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said González.
