Hit Parade: Fletcher Pops 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp second baseman Evan Fletcher, but a tough one for the team, as the Jumbo Shrimp dropped the contest, 11-7, to the San Antonio Missions.
Even with the loss, Fletcher was pure misery for the San Antonio pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Fletcher, who is the 23-year old second baseman .
"Fletcher really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Missions manager Matt Bruno told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Evan Fletcher singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
In his season totals, Fletcher has 1 home run, .361 BA, .385 OBP, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has played in 8 games.
