RockHounds Held in Check by Smokies, Lose, 4-1
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Tennessee Smokies take on the Midland RockHounds.
Midland got a decent performance from pitcher Boden Kramer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Tennessee Smokies. Tennessee won the Smokies Park contest, 4-1. Kramer threw 5.1 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Matthew De Gado in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Boden Kramer took the loss.
Allen Hundley had a big solo home run for the Smokies in the bottom of the third inning. With Tennessee leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Boden Kramer and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Smokies on top, 2-0.
Tennessee manager Kraig Fagan commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The loss makes Midland 2-1.
