Midland got a first-rate effort from pitcher Victor Catoe, who frustrated Shreveport hitters en route to a 2-0 RockHounds triumph at Security Bank Ballpark. The RockHounds, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Wendell Hays had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Midland right fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the RockHounds in front, 1-0.

"Victor mixed and matched," said Midland manager T.J. Saddler.
