Bighorns Rally Late to Nip SeaWolves
|
Lincoln beat Erie at ONEOK Field, eking out a 4-3 win. The triumph was primarily due to left fielder Franklin Merritt. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Doug Boley, who is tied for 2nd in the EL in holds with 12, earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-3. The win lifted the Lincoln record to 79-55.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Lincoln trailing 3-2, Merritt jumped on a curveball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Norberto Robledo and hit a 2-run home run to right. With one swing, the Bighorns had a walk-off win.
"Exhilarating win," said Merritt.
