Frigates Stay Hot With 8-7 Win
|
The Halifax Frigates besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Binghamton first baseman D.J. Rothlisberger by beating the Rumble Ponies, 8-7, at MGM Park. Rothlisberger went 3 for 4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Yoandri Mancilla. His record now stands at 7-2. The right-hander went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Frigates. The wins continue to add up for Halifax. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
Lyle Lotz had a big 3-run home run for the Frigates in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Halifax trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Carl McManus and swatted a home run to right. It was his 14th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Frigates ahead, 3-1.
"I like the roll we're on right now," said Lotz after the game.
