Pilots Bang Out 7-3 Win Versus Binghamton
|
The Wichita Pilots besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Binghamton shortstop Josh Wright by beating the Rumble Ponies, 7-3, at Regions Field. Wright was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. Wichita pitcher Mallory Coke got the win. He's now 9-6. Wayne Pressey was tagged with the loss. Gavin Flynn earned the save, his 2nd in 3 tries.
The Pilots got a big at-bat from designated hitter Elder Escalante. For the game, Escalante was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 22nd home run of the season gave Wichita a 2-0 lead.
Said Wichita manager Ryan Coleman: "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
With the win, Wichita upped its record to 72-62.
