Hamid Pierce had a strong outing for the Altoona Curve against the Quebec Metros at Metros Ballpark. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. Brian Byrne notched his 11th save in 16 chances. The win boosted Altoona to 76-59.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for R.J. Ford? The 25-year old first baseman Ford stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Altoona up, 3-2. For the game, he was 4 for 5, including 2 doubles and 2 singles.
"We have a lot of confidence in Hamid," said Altoona manager Jose Ortiz.
