Ravens Beat Patriots, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring clash between New Haven and Somerset, pitcher Morten Ard was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 win. In 6.1 innings, Ard surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. At 73-54, the Ravens find themselves in third place in the Eastern League North Division.
The New Haven win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Don Grelle. In the bottom of the fifth, the New Haven designated hitter came to bat and hit a 2-run double. It staked his team to a 3-2 lead.
"Morten is still learning," said Ravens manager Victor Suazo. "The sky's the limit for him."
