Quebec Neutralizes Gateway, 2-1
|
The Quebec Metros picked up a win at FNB Field, courtesy of Conlan Melton. The right-hander helped his team stop the Gateway Grizzlies, 2-1. Melton picked up the win for Quebec, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. With the loss, Gateway drops to 3-5.
Quebec used a clutch at-bat from Yeshua Kaplowitch to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Metros ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"This was a tough loss," said Gateway manager Elijah Holmes. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
