Baysox Use Late Surge to Win
|
Somerset center fielder Ira Gutiérrez had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to Bowie in 12 innings. Gutiérrez went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. Picking up the save was Steve McCall, his 1st. Bowie is now 57-65, while Somerset is 52-70.
Tatum Wilcox was 1 for 4 with 2 walks for Bowie. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the 12th inning, Wilcox had a clutch at-bat. Facing Somerset hurler Steve Van den Bossche, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Baysox a 4-3 lead.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Wilcox.
