Baysox Dismiss Curve, 3-2
|
Prince George's Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Bowie Baysox and Altoona Curve.
In a low-scoring clash between Bowie and Altoona, pitcher Paolo Gobbo was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Baysox win. Gobbo yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-10. Andy Farrell was credited with the save for Bowie, his 11th of the season.
The Baysox got a big at-bat from left fielder Orson Neufer. For the game, Neufer went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Bowie a 3-0 lead.
"Tough loss," said Altoona manager Matt Hartford. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
Bowie's record now stands at 47-76, placing them last in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
