SeaWolves Suffer 4-3 Loss to Sea Dogs
|
Jeremiah Mayhew was locked in. The right-hander led the Portland Sea Dogs to a 4-3 win against the Erie SeaWolves at Hadlock Field. The winner was Mayhew. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Jaques Porras. Aiden Bennetch notched his 26th save in 31 chances.
The Sea Dogs got a big hit from catcher Waco Torkelson. Facing Erie pitcher Jaques Porras in the bottom of the fifth, Torkelson pounded a 2-run home run to right-center. His 11th home run of the season put the Sea Dogs ahead, 4-1.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Mayhew. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
Portland is last in the Eastern League North Division with a record of 51-73.
