New Hampshire Fisher Cats pitcher Layton Ross was in fine form, leading his team past the Halifax Frigates, 6-0. Ross, now 5-9, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Clint Young nailed down his 1st save.

The Fisher Cats got a big hit from catcher Alex Savage. In the top of the fifth, Savage pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Fisher Cats ahead, 4-0.

"This was a good win for us," said Ross. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

At 73-46, the Fisher Cats find themselves in first place in the Eastern League North Division.
