Thrilling Victory Pushes RubberDucks Win Streak to 5
|
Liam McCurley was instrumental in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Portland Sea Dogs. The designated hitter went 2 for 5 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Akron RubberDucks. Owen Franklin, 6-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The losing streak for Portland has now reached 5 games.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 13th. With two out, McCurley hit a fastball from Maxwell Kay for a 2-run home run. The RubberDucks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I felt good up there," said McCurley. "I saw the ball well."
