Ravens Turn Back Yonkers, 4-2
|
The New Haven Ravens picked up a win at The Ballpark at Jackson, knocking off the Yonkers Dark Knights, 4-2. Starting pitcher Kelley Drzewiecki was a big reason why. Katsutoshi Ikeda earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. B.J. Álvarez, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
New Haven took a 3-2 lead on Zach Leddy's 42nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Leddy hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Yonkers pitcher Isidro Torrez visibly frustrated.
Drzewiecki pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
The win boosted New Haven to 68-47.
