Hartford Absorbs 7-1 Loss to Lancaster
|
Hartford had no answer for Lancaster Barnstormers hurler Dalton Drapala, who overwhelmed Yard Goats hitters as the Barnstormers coasted to victory, 7-1. The winning pitcher was Drapala, now 9-3. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The second-place Barnstormers hiked their record to 65-47.
Lancaster used a clutch at-bat from Kevin Nicolai to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Barnstormers ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Nicolai attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
