The Portland Sea Dogs could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Christopher Lowe into a win. Instead, the Wichita Pilots prevailed, 4-3. Lowe threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Lee Kalu picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 6-0. Emiliano De La Cruz suffered the loss. Zac Aragon closed out the game, earning his 14th save.
Wichita used the timely hitting of Jovi Garcia to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pilots on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Garcia attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
Wichita's record now stands at 64-48, placing them third in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
