Dark Knights Defeated, 7-1, After Somerset Rallies
|
Somerset pitcher Javier Barrios did his part in helping his team beat the Yonkers Dark Knights, 7-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Jamaal Diggs came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Somerset, at 74-38, sits in first place in the Eastern League Southwest Division.
Oscar García came through with a big-time hit for Somerset. The third baseman smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," García told the Somerset News. "It's as simple as that."
