Nussbaum, Frigates Clobber Bighorns, 10-1
|
The Halifax Frigates beat the Lincoln Bighorns, 10-1, at MGM Park. The win was due in part to third baseman Woody Nussbaum, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 5. The winning pitcher was Peyton Snyder. His record now stands at 6-9. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits for the Frigates. Halifax, at 47-59, holds down 5th place in the Eastern League North Division.
Halifax left fielder Lyle Lotz contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 60th hit of the season and put the Frigates ahead, 4-1.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Lotz told the Halifax Daily News.
