The Akron RubberDucks topped the Halifax Frigates, 5-4, in Eastern League action at MGM Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Akron pitcher Alfredo Gomez. Denis Lam earned the save for Akron, his 2nd of the year. The first-place RubberDucks bumped their record to 68-36.

Aaron Whaley came through with a big-time hit for Akron. The shortstop smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Halifax manager Trajano De Leon. "The effort was great."
