Baysox Subdue Halifax, 6-5
|
Bowie beat Halifax at MGM Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter Teodosio Zendejas. He went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Greg Trane picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 9-7. Phil Gilbert earned save number 21 this season.
With Bowie leading 2-1 in the top of the second, Zendejas hit a sinker from Stephen Fortunato for a bases-clearing double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Baysox ahead, 5-1.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Zendejas, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Bowie has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
