Patriots Stick Curve with 6-1 Loss
|
The Somerset Patriots knocked off the Altoona Curve, 6-1, in Eastern League action at Arm & Hammer Park. Somerset pitcher and Washington, Indiana, native Shaun Lai had an outstanding performance. In 5.2 innings, Lai surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Patriots now have a record of 54-46 with the win over Altoona.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Patriots grabbed the lead when Mason Marston rapped a two-out single. Somerset was trailing 1-0, when Marston hit a 2-run single off Paul Hobkirk to put his team in front, 2-1.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Marston told the Somerset Citizen.
