Crabs Deal Hartford 9-3 Defeat

The Providence Crabs stopped the Hartford Yard Goats, 9-3, at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The Crabs got a big game from Jim Brown, who was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Burr Thompson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. Providence's record now stands at 45-54, placing them 7th in the Eastern League North Division.
With Providence leading 6-3 in the top of the ninth, Brown hit a fastball from Yannis Abdul-Jabbar for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Crabs ahead, 9-3.
Afterward, Hartford manager Bill Medina said: "We've hit a rough patch."
