The Akron RubberDucks defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 3-1, in Eastern League action at Canal Park. Akron pitcher Stan Norwood had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Norwood, now 8-8. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Justin Falconer picked up the save, his 1st.
Berny Orellana, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a .485 slugging percentage, chipped in for Akron with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Norwood told the Akron Today. "Whatever it takes."
