The Akron RubberDucks satisfied the home crowd at Canal Park, treating them to a season-opening win, 4-3, over the Lincoln Bighorns. Reliever Luther Hara was the standout performer for Akron. Akron reliever P.J. Hetzel picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. T.J. Vanek was tagged with the loss. Nathan Frascella earned the save for Akron, his 1st.
Liam McCurley aided the Akron cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Hara told reporters after the game.
