In a low-scoring tilt between the Akron RubberDucks and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 25-year old right-handed pitcher Ayrton Boogert was the difference-maker. The Akron right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Boogert got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The win takes Akron to 2-2.
Akron used a clutch at-bat from Hunter Dublin to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the RubberDucks ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Afterward, RubberDucks manager Damon Cordero said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
