Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Akron RubberDucks and Gateway Grizzlies.
The Akron RubberDucks beat the Gateway Grizzlies, 4-2. Akron pitcher and Hickory, North Carolina, native Stan Norwood led the way. Nathan Frascella picked up the save, his 8th.
The RubberDucks got a big at-bat from third baseman Isaiah Haag. For the game, Haag was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Akron a 2-1 lead.
After the game, Akron manager Darren Harris applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Akron is 39-44 and Gateway, with the loss, 27-56.
