Dark Knights Use Late-Game Magic to Beat RubberDucks, 4-2
The Yonkers Dark Knights got a marvelous performance from pitcher George Verde. The right-hander kept the Akron offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Yonkers victory at Canal Park. The win went to Isitolo Matoto in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Duff Mendiola took the loss. Akron has now lost 4 in a row.

Fremont Raber delivered a big hit for Yonkers. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dark Knights ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

Akron manager Eddie Hansen, after the game, said, "Right now, we're just not getting that big hit."
