Rumble Ponies Win Nail-Biter
|
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies had to overcome a fine performance from Providence pitcher Teddy Leonhart to grab a 3-2 win at NYSEG Stadium. Leonhart allowed no runs over 6.1 innings. Today's win puts Binghamton at 39-31, while Providence falls to 33-37.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Binghamton shortstop Essie Marcy, facing Curan Merryman, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Rumble Ponies the 3-2 win.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Marcy told the Binghamton News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
