Gateway Rallies for 4-1 Win
|
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mark Jones into a win. Instead, the Gateway Grizzlies prevailed, 4-1, in 11 innings. Jones threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The win went to Taylor Anderson in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Willy Mayan took the loss. Gateway is now 40-31, Binghamton 40-31.
Gateway got a knockout punch from Kyler St. Pierre. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said St. Pierre. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
