Tight Tilt Goes to Barnstormers, 3-2
|
The Lancaster Barnstormers topped the Providence Crabs, 3-2, in Eastern League action at FirstEnergy Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Lancaster pitcher Mauricio Vega. Michael Ruffing closed the door for Lancaster, picking up his 6th save of the year. Lancaster currently is in third place in the Eastern League Southwest Division at 44-28.
Fernando Espinosa had a big solo home run for the Barnstormers in the bottom of the third inning. With Lancaster leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from Ryan Ivanov, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a 8.8 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Barnstormers on top, 3-1.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Vega.
