|
Akron right fielder Billy Lamica made his presence felt in the 8-2 RubberDucks triumph over the Portland Sea Dogs. Lamica went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The first-place RubberDucks now have a record of 43-22.
The Sea Dogs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the RubberDucks going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old shortstop David Carthens came to the plate. Carthens hit a solo home run on a full count slider from Portland hurler Bartoli Flores. It was Carthens's 5th home run of the year.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Matt Aguirre.
