SeaWolves Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Erie SeaWolves and the Lincoln Bighorns. Erie won it, 3-1. Erie starter Scott Saarela was in command. In 7.2 innings, Saarela surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Rowdy Gilbert picked up the save, his 8th.
The SeaWolves got a big at-bat from second baseman Caleb Whitman. For the game, Whitman went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Erie a 2-1 lead.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Erie manager Al Alcantara.
With the win, Erie upped its record to 35-31.
