Baysox Suffer 5-0 Setback
|
The Portland Sea Dogs beat the Bowie Baysox, 5-0, at Prince George's Stadium. The win was due in part to third baseman Caro Cruz, who went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Ronald Keegan in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Mikey Mauldin took the loss. Paul Wai got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
With Portland leading 1-0 in the top of the sixth, Cruz hit a run-scoring single off Bowie hurler Gianni Ivey. It was the 17th hit of the season for Cruz and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"I loved our energy," said Portland manager Matt Aguirre. "I loved the way we played."
The Sea Dogs saw their win-loss record go to 28-36. At the same time, the Baysox fell to 30-34.
