Dark Knights Score Late to Beat Barnstormers, 6-5
|
The Lancaster Barnstormers got a sterling performance from pitcher Neal Darling, but the Yonkers Dark Knights still prevailed, 6-5. Darling threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Yonkers reliever Tucker Scott picked up the win. Mickey Hall took the loss for Lancaster. The win puts the Dark Knights at 31-31, while the Barnstormers drop to 26-36.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Abel Newell was at the plate when Yonkers scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Dark Knights to go in front, 6-5.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Newell.
