Portland Drops Bowie in Pitchers' Duel
|
Bowie got a big-time effort from pitcher Norman Fear, but it wasn't enough to keep the Portland Sea Dogs from winning the game, 2-1. Fear threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Abe McDaniel, now 4-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The Sea Dogs go to 27-34, putting them 6th in the Eastern League North Division.
The Sea Dogs got a big at-bat from third baseman Danuel McNeil. For the game, McNeil was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Portland a 2-1 lead.
"We did just enough to win," McNeil said.
