Somerset Stymied by Akron, 1-0
|
The Akron RubberDucks downed the Somerset Patriots, 1-0, at Canal Park. Starring for Akron was pitcher Jesse Hepworth. Ryker Crouse got credit for the save for Akron. It was his 5th of the year. The victory gives the RubberDucks a record of 29-28.
The RubberDucks got a big at-bat from first baseman Bob Counts. For the game, Counts was 1-2 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Akron a 1-0 lead.
Counts said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
