The Akron RubberDucks had to overcome a fine effort from Lancaster pitcher Noel Ménard to win, 5-4, at FirstEnergy Stadium. Ménard went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Akron pitcher Peter Beaumont got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Brody Lake got the loss. The 'W' lifts Akron's record to 31-28.
Akron used the timely hitting of Yipolito Ambriz to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Ambriz said his team "played with focus and determination."
