Altoona defeated Gateway, 5-2, in large part due to 24-year old right fielder Gavin Sutton. Sutton drove in 4 runs. The right fielder had 1 double and 1 home run for the Curve. Altoona reliever T.J. de la Cruz was the winner. His record is now 7-1. Chris Sanders took the loss. Moses Wasserman, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Altoona took a 5-1 lead on Sutton's 8th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Levi Hunt in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Altoona to the win.
"I like our mindset right now," said Altoona manager Matt Hartford.
The win puts the Curve at 39-19, while the Grizzlies drop to 21-37.
