Victory Pushes Frigates Record to 23-22
|
Halifax first baseman Seton Maxwell had a 4-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Somerset Patriots, 8-5. Ignatius Valdez, the winner, improved to 3-5. He held the Patriots to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 1. The save was credited to Cameron Dungan, his 6th.
Ricky Gilbert chipped in a 3-run home run for Halifax in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Gilbert said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
