The Somerset Patriots defeated the Quebec Metros, 11-4, at Metros Ballpark. Somerset center fielder Johnny Bender had a superb performance. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Wayne Boyd was the winner. He's now 3-0. The loser was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Elijah DeMars. The Patriots, now 32-13, have won 15 in a row.

Somerset used a well-timed hit by Ethan Raney to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Patriots ahead, 7-4. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"It's fun coming to the ballpark," said Raney, "when you're on this kind of roll."
